Turkey Burger, Spinach Pesto and Blackberry Buttermilk buns
Hello fellow food lovers …
This week in The Sunday Times we share a small twist on a family favourite supper with our spicy Turkey burger recipe and if you have a huge amount of perpetual spinach overtaking your garden, like we do, then why not make a quick batch of spinach pesto and freeze it for the cooler months.

Now, if you have not been out picking Blackberries yet, ’tis time to get your bucket and pick some. Maybe its the rain (??) but this year the Blackberries are as sweet as can be and plentiful too!
Thanks for reading.

The Spinach Pesto looks delicious! Your tip of freezing the pesto into small cubes is very practical – I might try to make pesto for the very first time! Our boys would surely love to find Blackberry Buns when opening their lunch box at the school
I’m happy having found my way to “Wise Words” – I was looking for some inspiration to lunch box – and I found it (and much more) here
Hi Nina,
Thanks so much for the lovely comments.
The pesto is not to difficult to make at all and it is lovely to have it
in the freezer. I will pop over to have a look at you blog now!
I want it all! The thing is I want it right now, on my plate doggone it! I have never had enough basil to make enough pesto to freeze it but this year I’m overrun…great idea!
Hi Barb,
I have to say the Turkey burger is pretty fantastic …
and yes!!! save that basil and make pesto. It is the BEST winter pick-me-up from the freezer.
I love love love a cube of it plopped in my ‘college thermos’ of soup. Makes me feel like I am at home
eating lunch with Ron and the kids … Thanks for the visit Barb … x
